A mokoro trip

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

In the morning, we loaded our day packs and water, leaving most of our luggage behind.  We headed towards the point where we embarked mokoros, traditional canoes used in Okovango delta.  The polers transported us to an island, where we set up our camp.  We are camping in the middle of the delta for the next two nights. The delta is beautiful, with many beautiful plants and birds.  In the afternoon, we went for a swim, and later for a bush walk on another island.  Camping under the stars is great when sleeping bags are warm and comfy.  African nights in the bush turned out to be noisy with all the frogs and animal calls.  Later in the night, it is really quiet and you can hear only hippos crossing the water and feeding on the grass.
